ASFONA Board Meeting "CLICK NEWS UPDATES" Above for News
May 13, 2010, NEW YORK

A meeting of the ASFONA Board of Directors was held at the "W" Union Square New York in May. One of the primary goals on the agenda was to complete the business plan with Starwood for implimenting the ASFONA / Starwood "Areas of Focus" business initiatives for 2010 / 2011. Denise Coll, the President of Starwood North America attended part of the meeting to inform the ASFONA board of Starwoods commitment to the implimentation of the process.

• Bob Morse –Was Introduced and nominated to the ASFONA Board of Directors by Executive Board Member – Paul Wischermann
• Bob Morse was elected to the ASFONA board with unanimous approval of the board.

Galaxy – Update & Overview Report:

 Ron Hardin – Vice President – Information Technology – Davidson Hotel Company:
Ron Hardin presented a report to the board on the various meetings that had taken place and the progress made on the ASFONA boards project with Galaxy. Significant input had been given by Dan Hogan & Mark McBeth from Starwood and the overall timeline to bringing the developmental stages to completion had been improved by nearly six months.
John Shingler thanked Ron Hardin for heading up the task force and also John Belden for making the IT resources of Davidson Hotel Company available to ASFONA and Starwood.
Following the January board meeting agreement by the board on the ASFONA “Areas of Focus” a meeting was scheduled with Starwood Executive management at the Starwood Owners Conference at the Westin Diplomat in Florida.

The Starwood team agreed to  take the ASFONA “Area of Focus” initiatives for further discussion with their group. Starwood to report back through John Shingler on proposals to develop a work stream inclusion plan with the objective of securing a strong engagement between Starwood and ASFONA.
A further meeting was scheduled as a working session to determine how best to proceed with each of the subject headings and the work party team designations.
March 11th – Meeting at the Westin Buckhead – Atlanta – attended by:

This meeting provided the platform and the framework within which the Starwood and ASFONA teams would be able to work to meet the business objectives through the most effective communications process.
ASFONA – “Areas of Focus” 2010 – 2011    STATUS REPORT:-
John Shingler informed the board that Denise Coll had called a meeting of all her direct reports to communicate the ASFONA “Areas of Focus” and to inform them of the goal of incorporating the ASFONA communication input process into the respective areas of each of their business plans.
Denise Coll had provided John Shingler with the presentation deck to be used at the management meeting and at the presentation to the ASFONA board. John Shingler presented this deck to the board. The pertinent points relating to the “Areas of Focus” are as follows”


Strategic Intent of Focus Areas:
• To establish a dedicated communication process for ASFONA and Starwood to align, engage and strengthen the relationship while sharing joint expertise which ultimately fuels success for all parties.
Key Goals of Focus Areas:
• To focus on six clear areas so Starwood and ASFONA can have the most effective communications process.
• Determine a constructive, positive work stream inclusion plan to secure strong engagement between ASFONA members and Starwood.
• Strengthen the awareness of ASFONA access to Starwood initiatives.
• Work at an organic pace, being sensitive to accomplishing goals while balancing current workloads.
• Share in the process for mutual success.
