Following a number of meetings with Starwood senior management executives during the NYU Conference in New York, ASFONA's President John Shingler followed up with additional sessions with additional team members of the Starwood senior management team. The week long meeting program started on Tuesday June 17th at Starwood’s Corporate Headquarters in White Plains, New York.

Meeting with the President Global Hotel Group 
John Shingler started the week with a one on one meeting with Matt Quimet, the President of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Global Hotel group. This was the first opportunity the two have had to meet formally since the management team realignment had taken place and the announcement of Denise Coll as the President of Starwood’s North Americas Hotel Division. Matt provided a more in depth look at the realignment goals and objectives both for North America and worldwide.
 
North Americas Operations Management
The program continued with a meeting with John Peyton who in his new, recently announced position of Senior Vice President – North Americas Hotel Operations has the management responsibility for all company managed hotels in North America including all brands.

Meeting with The President - Starwood North America
Further discussions on Starwood’s business environment continued at a one on one meting with Denise Coll - Starwood’s President - North America. Details of the operational management realignment were covered and some in more depth than others. Denise did state that further improvements were in the works relating to managing the process within departments that now report to her and these details were reviewed. The insight that Denise Coll brings to the business and her operational experience continues to provide the owners group with confidence.

Meeting Overview:
Meetings throughout the week included a minimum of one hour meeting slots with each of the specific brand leaders to include Hoyt Harper -  SVP Sheraton, Sandy Swider - VP Four Points by Sheraton, Sue Brush - SVP Westin and Brian McGuiness – SVP “aloft” & “element”
Additional meetings during the week also included a significant time slots for a detailed review of the Starwood Preferred Guest program relating to costs, productivity and future revenue generating activities.
Meetings also took place with the  Senior Vice Presidents responsible for, Procurement – Paul Davis, Architecture & Design – Dave Milus, Compliance & Brand Assurance – Bill Minn, Internet Development including Broadband capacity – Paul Barron & Brennan Gildersleve, Partnership Marketing and Loyalty Marketing – Mark Vondrasek, Mike English, Chris Holderen, David Flueck & Alan Diehl, Revenue Management – Kathi Corbett, Owner & Franchise Relations – Lynne Dougherty & Susan Sepehri.
