At the invitation of Starwoods management, the ASFONA President spends one week, two times per year at the corporate headquarters in White Plains, New York. The most recent meeting was on June 5th through to June 8th 2007.
Following the NYU Conference in New York, ASFONA's President John Shingler met the Starwood senior management team. The week long meeting program started on Tuesday June 5th at Starwoods Corporate Headquarters in White Plains, New York.
Meeting with the CEO
During the week John Shingler had a one on one meeting with Bruce Duncan, the Chairman of the Board and CEO of Starwood Hotels & Resorts. This was the first opportunity the two have had to meet formally since Bruce Duncan was asked by the Starwood Board of Directors to assume the position of CEO for the company.
The program commenced with a meeting with John Peyton who in his new, recently announced position has the management responsibility for the Sheraton, Westin, Four Points by Sheraton and Le Meridien brands. These are the brands in which the majority of ASFONA members have investments or management company involvement and interests.
Meeting with The President - Starwood North America
Further discussions on Starwoods business environment continued at a luncheon meting with Geoff Ballotti - Starwoods President - North America. Geoff's insight on the business and his operational experience continues to provide the owners group with excellent council and guideance.
Meetings throughout the week had been scheduled to included each of the specific brand leaders to include Hoyt Harper - SVP Sheraton, Sandy Swider - VP Four Points by Sheraton, Sue Brush - SVP Westin and Eva Zigler - SVP - Le Meridian.
Additional meetings during the week will also included a significant time slot for a detailed review of the Starwood Preferred Guest program relating to costs, productivity and future revenue generating activities.
Meetings with the Vice Presidents responsible for Galaxy/LightSpeed, Revenue Management, Food & Beverage, Procurement, Architecture & Design, Compliance, Brand Standards, Sheraton Initiatives, Distribution, Fee Proposals for 2008, GSO Fees, Internet Development including Broadband capacity and Partnership Marketing were also scheduled and were addressed during the week.
