Koni was born in Seoul, Korea and came to the United States in 1968. She was accepted with full scholarship to the California Institute of the Arts and continued her education at UCLA’s Graduate School, earning a Master of Arts degree.

In 1976, KoniArt was born with a focus on interior textiles. Koni’s fresh approach, combining Western culture and a subtle influence of her oriental heritage in fabric design and soft sculptures for hotel guest rooms, was a winning combination. “When we focus on the success of our customers, our success is automatic,” comments Koni. Koniart developed a national team of consultants that specialized in identifying the design wishes of their customers and fulfilling those wishes with creative solutions.

For many years Koni has devoted herself to providing distinctive soft goods design and color to the hospitality industry. In 1997 Koni created the Koni Corporation, a woman / minority owned corporation. She successfully combined Product Design and Focused Customer Service to provide the best products and support to her clients. Among her success stories are the development of the Westin Heavenly Bed and Sheraton Sweet Sleeper Bed ensembles for Starwood Hotels and Resorts. Both bed ensembles revolutionized the industry with elegance and are known for their lasting quality. These beds began what would later become known as the Hotel Bed Wars. She has since successfully created brand enhancing ensembles for major brands worldwide. Koni creates excitement in her products that increase guest satisfaction, raise brand loyalty and improve the bottom line.

Koni’s motto is, “If it works, improve it”, a philosophy that has established her as one of the premier innovators in product design for the hospitality industry.
